Why is Paris the city of love? - Enlightenment

Paris is known everywhere as the city of love. For some the reasons are obvious, for others it is a myth. The French capital has so much to offer that it is always worth a visit.

Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower is the symbol of Paris and also of all of France. This imposing iron building is not only a popular sight, but also immortalized on countless postcards and pictures. Anyone who visits the city of Paris will definitely pay a visit to the Eiffel Tower. You don't even have to drive up the tower itself. The Trocadéro viewing platform offers a breathtaking view of the Eiffel Tower. Unforgettable photos can be taken especially at sunrise.

When the sun goes down, the Eiffel Tower shines in bright light every hour on the hour. 20,000 lamps provide the beautiful glitter for five minutes.

The restaurant “58 Tour Eiffel” is located on the first floor of the Eiffel Tower. If you book a table here, you can enjoy a romantic dinner for two with delicious delicacies and the great view in the middle of Paris.

Romantic walks and boat trips

Paris has a variety of beautiful parks that are lovingly designed and invite you to linger. Relaxing walks and cozy picnics can be organized here to enjoy the time together.

The Seine flows right through Paris. With many providers, trips with smaller boats can be booked away from the crowded tourist boats. During a romantic dinner in togetherness, many sights of Paris can be admired directly from the water. These include the Notre Dame Cathedral and the imposing Pont Alexandre III bridge. The trips can be booked both during the day and in the evening.

Films, literature and language

Paris is the location of many romantic films. Many poets and authors have been inspired to create true works of art by the unique atmosphere of Paris for decades or even centuries.

French is a very elegant language and has a unique melodic sound. The words “Je t'aime” or “I love you” in French are probably known to everyone and always sound nice. The song “Je t'aime mois non plus” sung by Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin is the quintessential anthem for passionate love. The breathy “Je t'aime” still causes goose bumps even after the hundredth time.

Sacre Coeur

The Basilica Sacre Coeur impresses with its unique appearance and construction. The white dome is the landmark for the bohemian district of Monmatre.
In front of the basilica is a long staircase that leads to a viewing platform. From up here you have a breathtaking view of the whole city. Sitting on the steps, listening to the sounds of a musician while watching the sunset. This is exactly how you can end an exciting day comfortably.

Restaurants and cafés

No other country stands for exquisite cuisine like France. In the Parisian restaurants you can get fine wines and the best cheese in France.
In Paris there are a number of small cafés that invite you to linger and relax. Especially in the patisseries, which can be found on every corner in the city, delicious sweets are sold. The selection is usually so large that it is difficult to make a decision.

Popular custom: love locks

Many couples in love have made it their mission to leave a lock engraved with their names or the date they met, in a place they visited together and with which they have wonderful memories. The metal lock is intended to symbolize the bond between the couple and to be for eternity.

Countless love locks have been attached to the Pont des Arts in Paris for many years. In order to prevent the bridge from being damaged or collapsing, the locks were unfortunately completely removed a few years ago. Nevertheless, many couples in love still come to the Pont des Arts.

There is something for everyone in Paris. Whether visiting the various museums, sightseeing or shopping, the city of love offers something of everything. This also makes Paris ideal for a short weekend trip.

Paris has a lot to offer. Even though many of the city's advantages can also be found in other places or in other cities, the myth of the city of love persists.
