Welcome to Best Friend NYC's  "Artist Spotlight" - a unique rotating online showcase of dog art . "Artist Spotlight" is a not-for-profit art installation providing artists with an opportunity to display their dog-themed artwork.

All of  the featured artists are equally inspired by our four-legged canine companions, yet each one uniquely interprets their passion for dogs into a distinct and truly original art form.

Originally from Trieste, Italy, Marina Micheli has lived and worked as a painter and illustrator in New York City since 2000.  She works primarily in the media of oil paint and pastel to create dog paintings and portraiture that form the main body of her work.

As a student Marina trained under the master painter and sculptor Francesco Grazioli of Atelier L’Off, where human figure was central to the study of drawing and painting. Being an avid dog lover, Marina is attracted to the unique eloquence of the animal world. Building on her formal art foundation, Marina strives to express the warmth and personality of the canine subjects in her paintings.

She has exhibited in the U.S. and Italy, and is a member of The Artists’ Registry of the American Kennel Club Museum of the Dog, the League of Animal Artists and the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.
